Manchester United Moves

Manchester United plotting a move for ex-Celtic striker Moussa Demebele

Ex-Celtic forward, Moussa Dembele, who plays at Lyon now is eyed by Premier League giants Manchester United claims Mirror.

The French star made a record-breaking move from Park Head last August to Ligue 1 for a reported value of £19.8million.

Player stats

The 22-year-old is having a great campaign at Ligue 1 so far scoring 17 goals and 5 assists across all competitions.

The striker also scored an important goal against PSG in February in a massive 2-1 win for Les Gones.

He also had earned 19 caps for his nation’s U-21 side, bagging 11 goals that include a hat-trick against Slovenia.

Dembele has been tied to the club till 2023.

Man Utd looking to reinforce their attack

The Red Devils were off to an underwhelming start this season but dragged themselves back into the top-4 race under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And however, the Norwegian couldn’t be productive in recent times as his side suffered a slight dip in form.

The only aspect that remains a big conundrum for Man United is none other than the position of the striker.

With Romelu Lukaku’s fluctuating form and Alexis Sanchez recurrently becoming injury prone, the Reds have failed to form an intimidating front three.

It has also forced Solskjaer to alter the formation accordingly and play with two wingers and an attacking midfielder/ second striker.

And they are considering the French prospect Dembele to succeed the Belgian striker at Old Trafford. Lukaku has also been linked with Serie A giants Inter Milan and Juventus.

Other interested clubs

Alongside the Red Devils, the Premier League club Arsenal are also keeping close tabs on Dembele.

Man United picked up a hard-fought victory against West Ham United on Saturday. Still, they are trailing Chelsea by two points in the fifth position of the table.

They will be heading to Camp Nou this Wednesday for Champions League quarter-finals second leg with aggregate deficit 1-0.
