After the international break, Chelsea host Manchester United in the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho returning to Stamford Bridge with his position seemingly still under scrutiny. The Blues sit seven points clear of their rivals at this early stage of the season, with the form of Maurizio Sarri’s side making them the favourites for victory ahead of kick-off.
Chelsea take on Manchester United in the first Premier League tie of the weekend at Stamford Bridge, with the home side looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign. However, with Jose Mourinho looking to answer his critics in the best possible manner with a victory over his former club, it promises to be a close encounter in West London this weekend.
Chelsea defeated Southampton on the road before the international break, with star man Eden Hazard continuing his impressive run of form in front of goal at St. Mary’s. The Belgian international is likely to be the main threat to the United defence this weekend, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho having also impressed since their arrival at the club over the summer.
As for United, Mourinho’s men recovered from two goals down to defeat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford last time around, however they remain seven points behind Saturday’s opponents ahead of kick-off.
Our betting tip for the match at Stamford Bridge is to simply back a home victory for Chelsea,
Chelsea have definitely had the better of things over recent years against United, losing just two of their last 16 encounters. The Blues ran out narrow 1-0 winners at Stamford Bridge last season, with Alvaro Morata scoring the only goal of the game that day. Meanwhile, Chelsea also overcame United in the 2018 FA Cup Final, with a penalty from Eden Hazard handing them the trophy.
The hosts have a fully-fit playing squad to select from this weekend, with Olivier Giroud likely to get the nod over Alvaro Morata in attack.
Luke Shaw could well feature for the visitors, despite the defender having missed England’s two recent matches, while Alexis Sanchez will be hoping to return to the starting eleven following his winning goal against Newcastle.
